Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Guide — The Tale of Thegn Oswald

Kingmaker

This quest will begin as soon as you are about to make an alliance with East Anglia. Use the nearest fast travel point and travel to Northwic. Find the Long House and talk to Finnr — advisor to the late King of East Anglia. After the dialogue, leave the city and find Oswald. Get to the nearest village and deal with all the enemies.

• In the pigsty, you can find the key to the house, which contains a chest with valuable items.

Having done this, you return to Oswald. He will offer to spend the evening in his domain, if you agree, then you will find an interesting scene and a fist fight with two opponents at once. After the fight, the task will end.

The Measure of a Norseman

Follow to the pier and start a dialogue with Oswald. The guy will challenge Finnr to a mortal battle, but you will take part in it instead of the advisor. Get to the lonely island and fight Oswald. You will fight without weapons, but they are useless. Even on a high difficulty level, Oswald is a very easy opponent.

After the duel, Finnr comes up with a plan to elevate Oswald in the eyes of his fellow tribesmen. Summon a Drakkar and go to destroy the nearest settlement on the island. During the raid on the bandit camp, you can find the Cloak equipment in the only locked chest. The key to the chest is on a wooden table near the red tent.

A Triumphant Return

Examine the pier in Northwic and interact with Oswald to start the quest. When control passes to you, open the global map. The scout can be found near the pier, to the left of the bridge over the river.

Follow the marker on the map to the Rued fortress and kill all the warriors. On the upper level of the fortress, you will find the key to the secret passage door on the table next to which there was a strong enemy. Go down to the lower level and look at the stone-covered passage in the ground. Get rid of the rocks. Inside you will find a lore book.

Having dealt with the warriors of Rued, light a fire and watch a long video, at the end of which you leave the castle.

Raising Iron

You need allies to defeat the castle of Rued. Return to Northwic and listen to Finnr, who will direct you to Theotford. But they don’t just become allies, so Reeve Theotford offers to make a deal. You need to clear one of the nearby village captured by Reed’s people. This is a good opportunity to get some skill points and also find some treasures. Free the settlement, talk to Reeve and complete the quest.

When capturing a village, be sure to search the church. Here you will need to find the key to the chest, which contains the item of equipment.

Fury from the Sea

Follow the marker on the map and talk to Finnr. He will ask you to give a speech before the battle. To cheer up the warriors, say «East Anglia needs you.»

After a lengthy cut-scene, you appear on the ship. Swim forward, and maneuver and use your shield to protect yourself from arrows when enemy archers start attacking the ship.

Once on the shore, get rid of the nearest enemies and help your comrades ram the gates. They will not break even the first gate without your help. Follow the same pattern until you find yourself in front of Rued. Climb to it to start the battle.

Rued is not the strongest opponent, but in addition to him, you will also be confronted by a rabid wolf. We recommend getting rid of the predator first, and then defeat Rued. In any case, you will have to get rid of all enemies.

At the end of the battle, the game will again give you the choice to kill Rued, or to spare. If you spare Rued, then Oswald will be pleased with your decision. But in the next storyline quest, you will have to fight this enemy again.

Wedding Horns

Talk to Oswald in Northwic and complete some wedding activities. You can participate in archery, try to get drunk, or even sleep with Broder. Also, you will have to lower the drunk Finnr from the roof, and finally fight the freed Rued (if you left him alive). Return to Randwy and tell of the successful alliance with East Anglia.

Tail and Mane

Back in Ravensthorpe, look into the long house. As soon as you do this, the cutscene will immediately begin, activating this task. Two neighbors - Holger and Rowan had a falling out. One of them "stole" the horse's tail, and the other demands compensation.

• Rowan is right - this choice will cause Holger to pay Rowan in silver.
