Journalists from the Deadline portal report that New Line Cinema is working on creating a full-fledged continuation of the Mortal Kombat picture. According to the information, the sequel has changed the screenwriter - now the plot is being developed by Jeremy Slater, who managed to work on projects such as The Umbrella Academy, Moon Knight and 2015's Fantastic Four.
It is not yet known why the company decided to abandon the services of previous screenwriters (Greg Russo and Oren Uziel worked on the original film). Probably, the authors felt that the not too warm reception of the film by critics and viewers is the result of the wrong decisions made by the screenwriters.
The filming of the sequel will involve the leading actors of the first part: Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Tadanobu Asano, Mekhad Brooks. There is no premiere date for the film yet.
