Thanks to a fair amount of screenshots and some pixel-peeping, we already have a pretty good idea of what STALKER 2's full arsenal will look like. First off, developer GSC Game World has already confirmed that the game will feature just over 35 weapons (which may or may not include grenades and a combat knife), putting STALKER 2 on par with its predecessors in terms of content.
That's all good news, but I'm sorry to report that we're losing some beloved weapons from the franchise, including the SG-550.
All the weapons in STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
As many of you may remember, the original STALKER trilogy offered a pretty eclectic and unique selection of weapons. For example, there was no M4, but instead the wildly exotic ZM LR300-A.

Speaking of eclectic! Note that we're still missing some of the most common weapons you'd expect to see in other modern titles. There's no AR-15 here, for example, and the HK 416 doesn't count since it uses a completely different mechanism (short piston vs. direct gas impulse), though I will miss the odd LR-300.
As for weird, unexpected weapons, we'll be seeing the Carmel and Malyuk, which to my knowledge haven't been featured anywhere outside of some unofficial Escape From Tarkov mods. The fact that we have a lot more SMGs than previous games is great, but the severe lack of pistols will definitely be felt in the game. The original games had a lot of good secondary weapon options, to be honest.
So while it's a pretty interesting and exciting arsenal (not to mention the potential weapon upgrades), I think Stalker veterans will miss some of the old classics. Luckily, if all goes well, modders will be able to bring back older gear in the future. Having a ton of guns on screen means little if the gameplay isn't up to par, and I hope GSC is of the same mindset.
