Sacred Wounds Puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

This puzzle is the first serious test of your wits that you will face during the main storyline. After Antonio hands over the bottle of wine, you will have to go to the tower in the Vatican and pour the contents of the bottle into the chalice. Then, by rotating the stone circle 360 ​​degrees, you will descend into the catacombs under the city. It is there that one of the most difficult puzzles in the game awaits you.

If you have played other large action adventure games or watched the Indiana Jones films, then you will already have a general idea of ​​how the puzzles in The Great Circle are arranged. Before solving the main Sacred Wounds puzzle, you will need to explore the surrounding area and solve several smaller problems to gather the necessary information.

How to solve Sacred Wounds

When you get to the catacombs under the tower, you will see an image of Jesus with a chalice in front of him. Pour the wine Antonio gave you into the bowl, and five levers will extend from the painting. You can interact with them, but at this point you don’t know how or in what order.

1. Go left from the main painting, remove the bust from the ledge and pour the wine into another bowl. The Roman numeral II will appear inside.
2. Then go through the open gate on the left (be careful, it will close behind you) and pour the wine into the next bowl in front of another painting. The numeral II will appear in this bowl as well.
3. Since the gate is now closed, go through the open passage in the wall on the left and follow the corridor. In the next room, look for another bowl and a painting. Pour the wine, and the numeral III will appear.
4. Take the metal rod that is standing by the wall and break the fragile part of the wall. You will return to the room with the main painting. Move to the right from the main painting to another bowl. Pour the wine, and the numeral III will appear at the bottom.
5. Turn right to find a closed metal gate. Squeeze through the crack in the wall on the right to find the final bowl and painting. Pour the wine into this bowl to reveal the number IV. To get out, open the door behind you by pulling the chain.

Return to the main room. It's time to interact with the main painting and set the levers to solve the Sacred Wounds puzzle.

How to Set the Levers

You can move the levers to position II, III, or IV, with each lever corresponding to a different part of Jesus' body. You'll notice that each bowl next to the paintings has a different body part circled on the image of Jesus. The solution is as follows:

• Right Leg (right side of the painting, not Jesus' right leg) - IV
• Left Leg (left side of the painting, not Jesus' left leg) - III
• Right Arm - II
• Left Arm - II
• Body - III

After this, the levers will disappear and the painting will turn around, opening the passage to the next part of the mission. Remember this solution, as a similar puzzle with a similar principle will appear later in the game as part of the side quest "Field Research".
