Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Guide - How to Cure Tomas and Save Jan from Execution

During the For Whom the Bells Toll story quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you will need to figure out which cure will work for Captain Tomas. Healing him is critical to saving Jan Ptacek.

Finding Captain Tomas

Captain Tomas is located on the top floor of the east wing of Trosky Castle. You can sneak up there undetected by using the distraction strategy. There is only one guard on duty on the stairs - throw a rock to distract him. To access the east wing, first complete the quest for the blacksmith, helping him with horseshoes.

Access to the Alchemy Table

Go up to the top floor of the west wing of the castle. There is a guard on duty in the kitchen, but he can be bribed by offering food. Food is available in the bathhouse, located directly below the kitchen. Two floors below the top floor, you will find the Alchemy Table. In the room with this table, on the left shelf, look for a doctor's diary, which tells you that you need to create a potion called Fever Tonicum.

Gathering Ingredients

Hack the chest with a light lock in the same room to get the necessary ingredients for the potion. If you need lockpicks, help the hired hand, the groom Kabat, to return the rosary, which can be stolen from Father Nicodemus.

Making Fever Tonic

Now that you have all the ingredients, let's start brewing Fever Tonic on the Alchemy Table:

1. Pour the wine, which is on the top left shelf (red jug), into the cauldron.

2. Take three handfuls of pyrethrum and add them to the cauldron.

3. Lower the cauldron onto the fire.

4. Boil the potion for two turns, turning the hourglass and using the bellows. Repeat the process one more time.

5. Take one handful of elder leaves, put them in a mortar and crush them with a pestle. Then add them to the cauldron.

6. Add two handfuls of ginger to the cauldron.

7. Take the phial, which is on the lower left side of the alchemy table.

8. Use the alembic, also located on the lower left side of the table, to distill the potion.

Completing the quest

After preparing the potion, return to Captain Tomasz to hand him the tonic. A cutscene will start, and Mr. Ptacek will be saved!
