Important Choices and Decisions in Assassin's Creed: Shadows

In non-canon mode dialogues, you are offered a choice of several lines. These options do not have a significant impact on the course of events, but some of them are accompanied by unusual icons. Let's figure out what they mean!

When you talk to characters in the game (unless you have "Canon Mode" enabled, of course), you will have a choice of several phrases, and some of them are marked with icons. For example, scales. In this article, we will explain the meaning of all such symbols that you may encounter in Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

The tutorial system in the game does not provide a clear explanation of what these icons, such as "scales", "hearts" or "crossed swords", mean. You will not find information about this even in the codex. This can lead to misunderstandings, so we will explain in detail each symbol that appears in the game.

All icons and their meanings in Assassin's Creed: Shadows dialogues:

  • Scales: Naoe/Yasuke are lying. There is no mechanic in the game that would test your deception skill, and there is no system that would depend on character stats or random numbers. How the interlocutor perceives the lie depends only on the scenario.
  • Crossed Swords: The dialogue is over, the fight begins.
  • Heart: An opportunity to flirt. In order to develop a romantic relationship with a character, you will need to choose several lines with this symbol.
  • Heart with an arrow: The final step in the romance, which will lead to a kiss or more intimate events.
  • Silhouette with a plus: The character will become your ally.

Some missions related to social stealth (for example, the Tea Ceremony) include many such options. Without explanation, this can easily confuse and lead to the wrong choice.

Truth or Lie in AC Shadows:

When the "scales" symbol appears in dialogues, meaning a lie, it is important to understand that the game does not have deception skills or random elements that would test whether the interlocutor believes you. To decide whether it is worth lying, you need to carefully assess the context: is it likely that the character will believe your lie? How much knowledge do they have of what you are trying to deceive them about?
