NBA 2K creators sued over loot boxes

A new case has been filed in the district court of the US state of Illinois, in which Take-Two appears. The organization is accused of illegal actions and committing a number of illegal violations related to deceiving and misleading ordinary users of one of the mechanics implemented in the NBA 2K22 game.

In other words, the publisher is accused of using a loot box system in this basketball simulator, which is aimed at defrauding players of hard-earned funds. The lawsuit was filed by an unnamed underage gamer and his guardian, who allege that loot boxes mislead underage gamers into not really understanding the financial implications of purchasing wonder boxes.

As a punitive measure, Take-Two's plaintiffs are seeking $5 million in financial damages.
