War Thunder Edge is a spin-off of the highly acclaimed online action game War Thunder for PC and consoles, designed for mobile devices and giving fans of mobile games the opportunity to experience the authentic War Thunder experience on their preferred platforms.
War Thunder Edge players will have to control legendary tanks, warships and aircraft and fight in intense mixed battles of different types of military equipment. For example, a player can take off in an airplane and sink an enemy battleship in a naval battle, or cover allied ground vehicles from air attacks. The game will feature realistic damage and flight models, as well as historically accurate examples of military equipment, as is customary in War Thunder. At the same time, the progression system will be adapted for mobile devices and will allow players to quickly and easily access new vehicles from all countries.
Anton Yudintsev, co-founder of Gaijin Entertainment:
Players have been asking us for years to bring War Thunder to mobile devices. We had to first make sure that enough powerful hardware was widely available to players and that the mobile gaming audience was ready for hardcore games like War Thunder. Now we think that this time has come.
War Thunder Edge is being developed by Gaijin Entertainment's new in-house team under the supervision of the developers of the original War Thunder. The game uses the internally developed Dagor cross-platform engine (the same engine that powers War Thunder, Enlisted and other Gaijin games) to ensure top-notch graphics and support for the latest technologies on all devices. For example, War Thunder Edge will support hardware-accelerated real-time ray tracing on Snapdragon mobile devices from day one of beta testing. Gaijin has worked closely with Qualcomm to implement this latest technology, which will improve image quality and immersion by adding smooth ray-traced shadows with realistic penumbra, translucency, self-shadowing and other effects.
War Thunder Edge focuses on legendary pieces of military equipment that are well-known from the history books and offer a unique gaming experience - like the Tiger tank, the Il-2 attack aircraft, and the Yamato battleship. The beta version will feature dozens of vehicles made in the USA, Germany, Japan, Great Britain and the USSR. At first, the game will cover the period of World War II, but future updates will expand the arsenal of vehicles and add new countries and time periods, up to the present. Players will be able to explore and use in battle all sorts of light and heavy tanks, self-propelled guns, air defense systems, fighters and bombers, destroyers, cruisers and battleships. The developers also plan to add player-controlled submarines and aircraft carriers, and experiment a lot to create a new, believable and fun military simulation.
Sergey Kolganov, Game Director of War Thunder Edge:
Basically, we were trying to figure out what advantage War Thunder has over other games on the market, and we focused on bringing that to mobile devices.
