God of War: Ragnarök director Eric Williams revealed why Kratos doesn't wield Thor's weapon, Mjolnir.
In an interview with IGN Beyond, the director shared that Mjolnir is one of the most famous weapons in Norse mythology. The idea was for the hero to have a weapon that would subvert expectations and represent Kratos' status as a general, so they chose the Draupnir spear.
According to Williams, it is a weapon of "good and evil". Thor destroys enemies using "Mjolnir" in an insane thirst for battle. Kratos' Draupnir spear reveals him as a "sentient general".
God of War: Ragnarök is available on PS4 and PS5.
