The first reviews of Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) have appeared

Mortal Kombat 1 has become available to gamers who signed up for early access. At the same time, critics were allowed to publish their reviews. Most reviewers call the game one of the best in the history of the franchise .

Despite its name, Mortal Kombat 1 is actually the 12th game in the series. This is a kind of soft restart of the franchise, and the fighting game takes place in an alternate universe. Since review codes were provided too late, not everyone had time to publish full reviews.

The PS5 version of the game currently has a score of 86 on Metacritic. Surely the meaning will change in the future.

Here's what foreign publications write about Mortal Kombat 1:

  • Video Games Chronicle (5/5) : The best Mortal Kombat game in the history of the series. The publication notes excellent graphics, an excellent storyline and a new Invasions mode.

  • Bloody Disgusting (4.5/5) : The game returns to its roots while offering something new. Ideal for both newcomers and longtime fans of the series.

  • Screen Rant (3.5/5) : Great for those just getting into Mortal Kombat. And old fans will appreciate the familiar characters.

  • VG247 (4/5) : A positive step in a new direction, but there are some downsides.

  • Well Played (9.5/10) : new era; not a repetition or restart, but a revival of the series.

  • IGN : publication trIt takes more time for the final verdict, but so far the game leaves a pleasant impression.

  • Games Hub (4/5) : After the first 12 hours spent in Mortal Kombat 1, we can say that the game is made to last.

Mortal Kombat 1 was developed by NetherRealm Studios and is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The worldwide release date is September 19th and costs $70.
