Tesla has unveiled the next generation of its anthropomorphic robot, dubbed Gen 2, with support for actuators and sensors developed internally. These innovations are expected to give rise to a fleet of robots capable of taking on many mundane tasks, taking humanity in a direction where physical labor is no longer meaningful.
The new version of the robot, developed starting in 2021, represents significant progress. Thanks to the use of drives and sensors from Tesla, Optimus Gen 2 began to move 30% faster, while reducing weight and increasing stability.
In the demo, Optimus Gen 2 performs squats while maintaining balance and demonstrates improved arms capable of lifting heavy objects, as well as manipulating fragile objects with pinpoint precision.
Tesla plans to begin testing robots at its production sites soon. After confirmation of effectiveness, the company intends to begin commercial sales of robots to a wide audience.
