Official: Subnautica 3 is in development

Subnautica 3 has been officially confirmed as stated in the previous month's financial report, and now the developers, Unknown Worlds, have commented on the matter. They promise to provide details about the game's Early Access launch in 2024.

The developers expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic interest of fans in the next game in the Subnautica universe. At the moment, additional details about the project have not been revealed, but it is promised that more information will be provided next year about the launch of the game in early access.

The cryptic post also includes a rocket emoji, which may give some fans the idea that the next Subnautica might offer outer space instead of the deep seas. However, fans are urged to stay tuned, and some see this as a hint of more exciting details.

Unknown Worlds has been discussing the next game in the Subnautica series in general terms for some time now, and early job openings have pointed to development of a project in that universe. Last month, publisher Krafton confirmed that the next Subnautica would be a survival adventure game planned for release in the first half of 2025 for PC and consoles. This may be for early access rather than a full release.

Subnautica and Below Zero have successfully completed the Early Access phase, and it seems that fan feedback has made a differencerole in the success of the series. Currently, Subnautica is famous for its combination of open-ended sandbox survival with a compelling story and a stunning sci-fi world.
