From the beginning of January 2024, Rostelecom will take a step to increase the cost of home Internet tariffs by 5-6%. For example, the “Express 200 2.0” tariff plan, which previously cost 499 rubles per month, will rise in price to 532 rubles. The “For starters 2.0” tariff will also increase in price - from 390 rubles to 410 rubles monthly.
Company representatives confirmed that some tariff plans will be adjusted, but these changes will remain below the inflation rate. The increase will affect a limited number of subscribers, since for 70% of them tariffs will remain unchanged.
At the same time, it is worth noting that the Federal Antimonopoly Service claims that Rostelecom has not provided information on tariff increases since the beginning of 2024. However, the law does not require such notification, as the FAS representative emphasized.
It should be noted that Rostelecom is the leader in the number of home Internet subscribers in Russia, holding 36% of the market among 12.6 million fixed broadband Internet subscribers by the end of the second quarter of 2023, according to TMT Consulting.
