Frank Casanova, the chief marketing officer responsible for the Vision Pro virtual reality headset project, has left Apple.
His resignation has not been officially announced, but Casanova has updated his LinkedIn profile to indicate that he no longer holds his position at Apple.
Casanova had been at Apple for 36 years and had been in charge of Vision Pro marketing since 2019. He did not provide specific reasons for his departure. According to Bloomberg, Dan Riccio, who oversaw the development of the headset and plans to retire, may soon leave the company as well. No other changes to Apple's VR product team have been announced yet.
Casanova's departure coincides with a period of weak sales for the Vision Pro headset. Apple has reportedly significantly cut its annual shipment target for the device, and sales have dropped significantly.
The Vision Pro is Apple's first VR headset aimed at the professional segment of the market, and is priced at $3499, roughly double its production cost.
