Rumors have been flying around the web that Resident Evil 9, the next installment of Capcom's acclaimed horror franchise, will get an open world. However, recent reports indicate that the game may not be released as scheduled in 2025.
On the Discord server, an insider under the nickname The Snitch reported that rumors have recently emerged that the ninth installment may be delayed for unspecified reasons and may not be released in 2025. Despite the seeming negativity of such news, the insider emphasized that internal delays are common for the series and should not be of much concern.
The insider was unable to confirm this information, but there is speculation that another title in the series may be announced and released before Resident Evil 9 is released. Given Capcom's recent trend of releasing remakes of previous games, another remake is likely.
The action game also received a content update.
