Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut has become the third PlayStation game in terms of concurrent users on Steam.
According to SteamDB, since its release on May 16, the highly anticipated PC version has attracted more concurrent players than some of Sony's other notable titles. As of this writing, the record stands at 72,576 concurrent users.
Only Helldivers 2 and God of War managed to surpass this figure with 458,709 and 73,529 players respectively.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut thus launched with more players than Sony projects such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and The Last of Us Part 1.
The game also received a lukewarm reception among users, earning a very positive rating based on more than 7,600 reviews on Steam.
Earlier this week, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut developer Nixxes announced that the game's cross-play feature, which requires logging into PSN on PC, will now work in beta.
The Legends co-op mode was expected to be a full-fledged part of the PC release.
Ghost of Tsushima's developer, Sucker Punch Studios, originally assured players that PSN registration would not be required for Director's Cut's single-player campaign.
However, due to the negative experience with Helldivers, where the requirement to log into PSN on PC caused many problems, Sony had to change its plans. Steam started refunding users who bought Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut in countries where PSN is not available, and the game was taken off sale in 180 regions. This decision caused a wave of outrage among players. If not for these issues, the game could have been PlayStation's most successful release among domestic studios.
