Rockstar co-founder and Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto veteran Dan Houser seems to be actively working on several projects at his new studio Absurd Ventures. One of them is a sci-fi IP that could form the basis of a major open-world action game.
Absurd Ventures officially debuted in 2023 as a studio focused on creating new IPs with an emphasis on strong narratives. While video games were mentioned as a possible direction for the studio, it wasn't clear how much of that was related to its operations. Initially, the studio announced a graphic novel and a podcast. But this week, it was revealed that the studio is developing an open-world action-adventure game.
A sci-fi setting about the near future seems like a great basis for a new game from a developer with experience like Hauser. However, it's unlikely to see a release anytime soon.
