State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin has announced the imminent appearance in Russia of a domestic analog of YouTube. According to him, the new service will be presented at the ROCIT commission in early summer 2024.
Details about the platform and its developers have not been disclosed yet.
Gorelkin also emphasized that the authorities should continue to put pressure on foreign hosting providers and their resellers. He sent an appeal to Roskomnadzor with a call to develop new measures to influence foreign services.
Recall that in January 2024, the MP hinted at the possibility of blocking YouTube in Russia for the sake of the development of domestic services. He said that access to the foreign site is not yet restricted due to the lack of a worthy alternative.
