Creative director of DOOM: The Dark Ages, Hugo Martin, confirmed that the developers decided to return to the roots of the series in the new game. The shooter will be more reminiscent of the first two games of the franchise, rather than Doom Eternal. In DOOM: The Dark Ages, players will encounter more horizontal and weighted movement, flat combat arenas and slow enemy projectiles. The number of demons in the game will be a record for the series, and players will be able to destroy them in a multitude of ways
The creation of Executioner of Doom's new look is inspired by King Leonidas from "300 Spartans" and Aragorn from "Lord of the Rings". The developers aim to give the player a sense of strength and power that is inherent in both heroes. For example, Executioner Rock's shield was created in the image of Leonidas and combined with a chainsaw for greater effectiveness. This weapon can be used to block, parry, and fight in melee combat. DOOM: The Dark Ages will be released in 2025 on PC on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
The action game also received a content update.
