Creative director of DOOM: The Dark Ages, Hugo Martin, confirmed that the developers decided to return to the roots of the series in the new game. The shooter will be more reminiscent of the first two games of the franchise, rather than Doom Eternal. The creation of Executioner of Doom's new look is inspired by King Leonidas from "300 Spartans" and Aragorn from "Lord of the Rings". The developers aim to give the player a sense of strength and power that is inherent in both heroes.
