Russian IT companies, including Yandex, will supplement the anti-piracy memorandum with a mechanism for removing sites containing pirated content from search results.
The Yandex press service reports:
The most important thing at the moment is the adoption of the bill submitted to the State Duma, based on the provisions of the current memorandum. The next step will be to supplement the memorandum with an industry-agreed mechanism to remove recurring domains from search results.
These actions are aimed at combating pirate sites. Later, this issue is planned to be approached at the legislative level, which will have a positive impact on sites that have the full right to broadcast movies, TV shows and other licensed content. According to information from Vedomosti, such popular pirate sites as Lostfilm, Lordfilm and Kinogo can be removed from the search engine.
The anti-piracy memorandum in Russia was signed in 2018. The copyright holders and the largest Internet companies put their signatures. Since that moment, Roskomnadzor has been creating a special register of links containing illegal content.
