Former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeil has spoken out about rumors about Grand Theft Auto VI being postponed to 2026, which were previously denied by insider Jason Schreier.
According to Vermeil, there is a high probability that even the developers themselves do not yet know whether they will be able to release the game on schedule. Vermeil relies on his experience working on Grand Theft Auto IV. At one time, the decision to postpone this game was made just a few months before the scheduled release date, since until that moment the team had difficulty determining whether they would be able to complete the project on time.
In his opinion, the developers are not very worried about the postponements of release dates. Vermeil is confident that Grand Theft Auto VI will be in demand for many years, and they are not particularly worried about the competition, since there are simply no rivals in this category.
GTA VI is officially expected to be released in the fall of 2025. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms.
