A huge patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming on April 15

Larian Studios has announced the release of the eighth major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, which will be available on April 15. The developers have been testing the patch since January 2025, and now it is ready to please players with new features, including photo mode, crossplay, and 12 new subclasses.

Thanks to the Larian account system, the game will have support for cross-platform multiplayer. This will allow gamers to form teams with friends, regardless of the platform used, as well as find a lobby for joint play.

Another significant change will be the introduction of split-screen support on the Xbox Series S. Previously, the developers said that the console could not handle this feature, but now it was possible to implement it without compromising performance.

New subclasses: expanding tactical possibilities

The update will add 12 new subclasses to the game, one for each profession:

  • Bard - College of Glamour: allows you to inspire allies, giving them temporary health points, and use abilities to charm enemies.
  • Barbarian – Path of the Giant: Increases the size of the character and increases attacks with the effect "Giant's Fury".
  • Cleric – Death's Domain: Specializes in necrotic magic, allowing you to use death spells and create exploding corpses.
  • Druid – Circle of Stars: Allows you to choose one of three star forms, providing bonuses to attack, healing or support.
  • Paladin – Oath of the Crown: Focuses on protecting allies and attracting the attention of enemies.
  • Fighter – Magic Archer: Combines magical abilities with ranged attacks, offering new visual effects and animations.
  • Monk – Drunken Master: Restores Ki when drinking alcohol and gains attack bonuses against drunk enemies.
  • Ranger – Keeper of the Swarm: Provides three types of swarms (jellyfish, moths, bees), which provide unique effects and the ability to teleport.
  • Rogue – Swordsman: includes new combat tricks that allow you to blind your opponents, disarm them, and dodge attacks.
  • Sorcerer – Dark Magic: strengthens the character in the shadows and allows you to summon the Hound of Evil Omen.
  • Wizard – Cursed Blade: uses a cursed weapon that can control enemies and absorb their souls.
  • Wizard – Dancing Blade: combines magic with fencing, increasing speed and concentration in combat.

Larian Studios has already published a preliminary description of the upcoming patch on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website. The developers promise to reveal the full list of changes closer to the release date of the update.
