Lawyers for the Village Roadshow company filed a lawsuit against their former partners from Warner Bros., with whom they created the film "The Matrix 4: Resurrection" together. The reason for opening the case is a violation of the terms of the contract, which forbade Warner Bros. to combine a theatrical premiere with the release of a novelty on streaming.
Despite this, the company voluntarily pushed back the release date, due to which the film was released simultaneously in world cinemas and on the HBO Max service. Village Roadshow accuse partners that they decided to promote their resource in this way, spitting on the original agreement.
Previously, Warner had a similar conflict with Legendary. Apparently, someone does not learn from their mistakes.
