In Outcast
– A New Beginning, you have two distinct skill trees – one for your jetpack
abilities and one for your combat abilities. You can upgrade those skills
individually, using different resources. Here’s a few tips on how to invest
your hard-earned in-game resources wisely:
1. Get these Jetpack upgrades as early as
possible to improve your traversal experience:
·
Glide. Can be activated while airborne to freely
glide in any direction.
·
Gravity Helper. Can be activated while airborne to
hold the fall and precisely maneuver. Cutter can also shoot and activate the
shield in the air.
·
Energy Battery. Every additional Battery upgrade
improves the vertical limit of the Jetpack.

·
The
Jetsprint allows for an automatic mode when used on roads.
·
When
Cutter hits the ground, the Glide will automatically transition to the
Jetsprint.
·
The
Gravity Helper is very useful for complex traversal challenges like Orym Trails
or Shrines.
·
Cutter
can jump over obstacles while in Jetsprint.
·
The
fully boosted Glide allows Cutter to fly upwards for a limited period.
Traversal
Skills are unlocked with different amounts of Blue Helidium (50-300). Blue
Helidium can be obtained by solving Quests, reactivating village Daokas,
completing Orym Trails and opening Talan chests hidden in the villages. Quest
rewards range from 5 to 25 Blue Helidium each. Reactivating village Daokas will
net you 75 Blue Helidium. And in each Talan chest you can find 25 of these rare
crystals, while Orym Trail plants contain 15.
2. These skills give the player completely new
Combat abilities:
·
Charged Attack. This ability enables Cutter to
charge his Melee attack and perform a powerful strike that deals increased
damage and can stun enemies.
·
Tackle. With this ability Cutter can hit enemies with
the Forward-Dodge and knock them over
·
Shield Dash. While holding the shield Cutter
can dash forward. Any enemies hit will be knocked over.
·
Ground Pound. While airborne Cutter can propel
himself downward and damage enemies on impact.
What you shouldn’t miss out on:
The Module
Upgrade allows the player to considerably raise the power level of their
weapons by upgrading each Module up to two times. Upgrading Modules will cost
Nano-Cells and Macro-Cells (Level 1 to Level 2 - 40 Nano-Cells | Level 2 to
Level 3 - 80 Nano-Cells and 2 Macro-Cells)
Combat
Skills are unlocked with different amounts of Nano-Cells. Nano-Cells can be obtained
from robotic enemies as well as found in containers in Invader Bases and
Outposts.
In addition
to your regular guns & modules and your combat skills, you will get access
to ancient Talan powers. Start by exploring the various Talan villages and
you’ll soon discover there’s a lot to do. Finish the questlines to get access
to those unique powers and wreak havoc amongst your enemies.
You will
acquire four distinct abilities that can can only be used with an item called “Oru’s
Gun”. Oru’s Gun can be found in Maar’s Ulukaï museum in Prokriana.
·
Ascior Swarm. Summons a deadly flock of Asciors,
spilling acid on the targeted enemies. The recipe for the beacons can be
crafted by Nhurkan after the player obtains the Daromôn of Prokriana.
·
Ventilope Raid. Summons a powerful bombing squad
of Ventilopes, dropping bombs on the selected area. The recipe for the beacons
can be crafted by Nhurkan after the player obtains the Daromôn of Sappa.
·
Garondar Anti-Gravity. Alters gravity to neutralize
opponents. The recipe for the beacons can be crafted by Nhurkan after the
player obtains the Daromôn of Bidaa.
·
Essence Vine. Summons the Essence Vine, grabbing
targeted enemies and incapacitating them. The recipe for the beacons can be
crafted by Nhurkan after the player obtains the Daromôn of Palana.
In addition
to those powers, you’ll also gain more abilities that don’t require Oru’ Gun to
use.
Passive Abilities
·
Talan Ops. The Talan Ops of Desan stockpiles
useful resources that can be collected, like Blue Helidium, Nano-Cells,
Green/Red Helidium, and Weapon modules. The stockpiles are available after the
player obtains the Daromôn of Desan.
·
Almayel’s Blessing. When Cutter receives lethal
damage, the Almayel’s Blessing will revive him once. The ability is available
after the player obtains the Daromôn of Kizaar.
Active Abilities
·
Galenta Call. Summons a Galenta, a mountable
flying creature. Call the Galenta by pressing UP on the DPAD. The Galenta can
be called after the player obtains the Daromôn of Emea.
·
Milea Power. This power that freezes your
enemies for a short time is not unlocked by any village, but instead by a
special activity in the open world ....
Spread over
the open world, the player will find corruption points - the 43 “Gork
eruptions”. Gork is Adelpha’s natural response to the invaders. The plants pop
up all over the planet and emit spores that enrage all creatures native to
Adelpha. Cutter has to clear them because Talans can also be contaminated, like
the Gork, an infected Talan that the player can meet in Emea. These eruptions
provide a piece of Gork when looting the core. Gork (the item) can be brought
to Gork (the person) in Emea. He will give you 75 Zorkins for each Gork you
bring him. After clearing the first Gork eruption, the player unlocks the Miléa
Power which can freeze enemies in the vicinity for a certain amount of time.
Each additional cleared Gork eruption will increase the strength of the Miléa
power by extending its duration and its area of effect. Look out for this
symbol on the mini-map:
·
Traversal
challenge where you must reach certain checkpoints. If you stray too far from
the intended path the challenge will fail. Beware of Adelpha’s dangerous plant
life.
·
At
the end of the trail a treasure plant filled with Helidium awaits you.
·
Traversal
challenge where you have to follow the glowing trail of a Hazadess (Talan
spirit) until it reaches the Shrine. But note that if you are not fast enough,
the time runs out and its door closes.
·
Each
successfully mastered Shrine will increase Cutter’s maximum health.
The local
Talans can offer useful services to Cutter. You can find four kinds of
merchants throughout Adelpha:
·
The
Gandhallipots can craft potions for you if you bring them the required
materials.

potion counterparts.

are found on Adelpha can be sold.

there are many more strewn over the wilderness. These Daokas still retain their
cores and just have to be switched on.
·
Cutter
doesn’t only have a pistol to defend himself. Once the player reaches a certain
point in the story, they will be able to obtain a Rifle.

to Mazum the Hermit:

some point in the story, Lehaz will send Cutter to find Mazum. He can construct
secret modules for you.
·
His
Hermit Shack is located south of Emea. And the first Module Part is hidden in
his shack.
·
Mazum
needs 4 Module Parts for the first Module. For the second and third, he will need
6 and 8 respectively. Surplus module parts can be sold for Zorkins to Mazum.
