In fact, there are three possible scenarios, and in two of them Squint dies, but he can die at different times. When exactly this happens will affect what you can do with the sensors after his death. Let's look at each of the options!
You can kill Squint almost immediately after you meet the character in STALKER 2. However, this is not the best solution, since it will limit the circle of people to whom you can give the sensors in the future. You will only be able to return them to Captain Zotov. In addition, you will miss the side mission "Piece of Pie", for the completion of which you can get an artifact. It is much better to leave Squint alive (at least for now)...
Choosing to help Squint escape, you will go to the cave to find an artifact that, as he says, will help him escape. The side quest "Piece of Pie" will begin, during which you need to find the entrance to the cave. This entrance is located in the house. On the map, it looks like this:

Be careful in the cave, as immediately after entering you will be attacked by an invisible bloodsucker. Once you defeat the monster, continue exploring the cave, search the bodies that you will encounter along the way to collect ammo and medicine.
The artifact can be found in the part of the cave that is filled with acid puddles and gas. Use the detector to find the artifact (move towards the increase in signal frequency). The artifact will appear only when you are near it. In my case, it was here, right at the exit from the area with acid:
As soon as you receive the "Mold" artifact, you can return to Squint. The only thing he can offer you for this is Ward's sensors. In fact, he doesn't even know what these things are.
There is a third option, which is actually the best depending on your attitude towards simulated betrayal and murder. If you get the artifact for Squint, and then at the very last moment say that you are keeping it for yourself, he will attack you. And you will be able to kill him without any consequences. This does not block the ability to give the sensors to anyone. And you will take these sensors from the man's corpse. In addition, you will get Squint's equipment and artifact. In general, this is a bad choice from a moral point of view.
