How to get the Catch spear and how to awaken it

Fishing was added in Genshin Impact 2.1, but one of the best rewards you can get for it is the polearm, which looks like a trident with two prongs. Fishing is the only way to get a weapon called Catch.

This is the best free polearm you can get in all of Teyvat.

The Catch spear is perfect for characters like Raiden Shogun, Zhong Li or Xiang Ling. If you've got Baal and can't afford her fancy five-star weapons, the Catch is a great alternative. It's free, plus Catch gives strong bonuses to energy regen, Elemental Blast damage, and Elemental Blast critical damage.

This is how you can get the Catch spear in Genshin Impact.

How to get Catch in Genshin Impact?

Getting this spear is easy. First of all, you need to unlock the fishing system by completing the Explosive Population Growth quest. You then need to collect the required fish and then exchange it for "Catch" at the Inazuma Fishing Association. You can find the Fishing Association between Inazuma City and Byakko Plain. To get Catch, Kujirai Momiji will ask you for the following items:

• Raimei Angelfish x6
• Gold false dragon x20
• Steel false dragon x20

5 places to catch Golden False Dragons

You need to get 20 Gold False Dragons. Luckily, there are five fishing spots in Genshin Impact where you can catch the Golden False Dragon:

• Petrel Mountains
• West of Wanshu Inn
• West of Minyun Village
• Lake Luhua
• Near the Statue of the Seven on Seirai Island

Golden False Dragons prefer False Fly as bait. Make sure you've crafted a few pieces of bait before you start hunting. You can get the recipe for this bait by exchanging it with the Anglers Association representative in Mondstadt, you will need three Orizia fish. You can find Orizia in almost every fishing spot.

Remember that in each fishing spot, after you have caught the fish you need, you can wait until nightfall or vice versa day (using the in-game clock), then there is a chance that a couple more copies of the fish you need will appear.

For the first trip to the listed fishing spots, you will catch about 7 Golden False Dragons. Thus, in order to get 20 pieces, you will have to wait for a respawn (respawn) or visit the worlds of friends.

5 places to catch Steel False Dragons

Now you need 20 steel false dragons. Similar to its gold counterpart, there are five locations to fish for the Steel False Dragon in Genshin Impact (same locations):

• Petrel Mountains
• West of Wanshu Inn

You will need six ramei angelfish to unlock the Catch spear initially. You will need three more ramei angelfish for each awakening of the Catch. You will need 18 ramei angelfish in total.

Don't forget to bring the Fake Worm bait with you. You can get the recipe for this bait by trading with a representative of the Mondstadt Anglers Association for three Orizia fish. You can find Orizia in almost every fishing spot.

How to awaken the Catch spear in Genshin Impact?

Congratulations, you have received the Catch spear. Your squad with the Shogun Raiden will name a street after you for such a great feat.

However, you can become even stronger. You just need to awaken your new weapon. This will increase elemental explosion damage from 16% to 32% (when awakened to rank 5) and critical hit chance from 6% to 12%.

Luckily, Catch awakening materials are available from the Inazuma Anglers Association, this awakening material is called Measure of Ako Wine. The representative will ask you three things for each awakening:

• 3 Angelfish Ramei
• 10 Pufferfish
• 10 Bitter Pufferfish

Of course, this is just one awakening. There are four waiting for you: get ready to collect 18 Ramei Angelfish, 40 Pufferfish and 40 Bitter Pufferfish.

6 spots for puffer fish

If you need 40 Pufferfish, then you need 40 Fishing Spots, as each has only one Pufferfish, but there are only six of them:

• South of the city of Mondstadt (across the river)
• West of Dawn Distillery
• Southeast of Li Yue Harbor
• Nazuchi Coast (east of Kannazuka Island)
• Rito Island
• East of Koseki Village on Seirai Island

As bait, you will need a Fake Fly.

5 Spots for Bitter Pufferfish

You probably already caught them when you were catching normal Pufferfish. They are often found in the same places.

• South of the city of Mondstadt (across the river)
• West of Dawn Distillery
• East of Qingce Village
• Nazuchi Coast (east of Kannazuka Island)
• Rito Island

You will need a Fake Fly to catch a Bitter Pufferfish.

When it's all done - and you've caught enough fish - you'll have one of the best free weapon poles in Genshin Impact at your disposal.
