All Endings Alone in the Dark (2024)

There are a total of 6 different endings in the game, although one of them will allow you to continue playing.

Ending 1

Play the game as Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood.

Ending 2

Continue through the game as a different character. The final cutscenes will be different, but the point of the story will remain the same. In addition, you will get a different achievement.

Ending 3 — Grace

Collect All the World's A Stage Lagniappes:

• Curious Napkin. An exclusive item for Edward. When you get to the hotel after the park in chapter four, be sure to find the napkin on the table on the right, in front of the reception desk.
• Box of Biscuits. Exclusive item for Emily. In chapter four, once in the morgue, turn on the lights and look for the cookie box on one of the tables in the corner of the room.
• Toy Talisman. In chapter four, once in Dr. Gray's office before the bedroom, place the fake book in the shelf. A toy mascot will appear on the floor.

Secret ending with Grace

If the entire collection is collected, regardless of the playable character, you can see an alternate ending in chapter five. Get up close with Grace and interact with her to give her a toy talisman. Don't be confused with the interactive point to start the dialog!

Ending 4 — Edward

Collect a A Goat Without Horns Lagniappes:

• Preserved reptile. Be sure to collect this item before the end of the first chapter. After the cutscene with Batiste in the store in New Orleans, examine the table in front of which you find yourself.
• Jangling Shaker. Continue through the game until chapter four. With any character, you will need to go through the restaurant where you met Ruth after visiting the Ancient Library. Go behind the bar and pick up the item.
• Profane Totem. In chapter four, playing as Edward (a unique item for his story), walk along the shore from the boat house, pass under the bridge and turn left to the ruined hut. The totem is hidden inside.

Edward's Secret Ending

After the Whispering Tree appears in the Objectives, head to the Whispering Tree, go around it and interact to leave an offering. You will be prompted to wait for the call of the Goat.

In fact, you have to go through the game up until the cutscene in chapter five, when the people of Derseto begin to perform the ritual and hang Grace. When Emily shoots Batista in the leg, Edward will look at her for a moment. You, on the other hand, press and hold the A key to shift your gaze to Grace and see the final cutscene.

Ending 5 — Emily

Collect Dying With Dignity Lagniappes:

• Sheet Music. In the second chapter, go through the graveyard, escape from the monsters in the cave and take the third medallion. Don't leave the cave and look for a loophole in the wall on the left leading to a secret chamber.
• War Photo. Exclusive item for Emily Hartwood. After the steamer episode (you need to start the engine), visit the second room in the hall on the first floor. This is Ruth's bedroom. There is a photograph hidden here.
• Toe Tag. An exclusive item for Emily Hartwood. Once in the morgue, solve the puzzle, watch the cutscene with the Dark Man and return to the corpse of John Marcus.

Emily's secret ending

Once you've collected the entire collection, in chapter four, if you're playing as Emily, an additional objective will appear. You are asked to wash the paint off the painting. Get to Dr. Gray's bedroom and enter the dresser where the key to the closet is hidden. If the whole collection is collected and you play as Emily Hartwood, you will be able to interact with the table on your right hand.

After that you need to visit Greenland, deal with the boss and during the cut-scene with the appearance of the Dark Man, before the fifth chapter, press and hold the D key. Emily should raise her left hand (on the right side of the screen). This is how you will trigger the secret ending.

Ending 6 — Jeremy

Collect The Hartwood Curse Lagniappes:

• Alone in the Dark. After the first chapter, after opening the receptionist's office, find and open the safe (though you'll learn the combination later). The hero will tease that he was lucky enough to guess the combination from the safe. Inside will be a burnt book. The combination from the safe: to IX counterclockwise, to I clockwise, to III counterclockwise.
• Discarted Palette. Once on the Oil Rig, find the lever and lower the bridge. Cross the bridge, go up to the second floor and go to the end of the attic. Take your time so you don't activate the cutscene. There are barrels on the right, which you can crawl between to find a crate.
• Witness the Black Pharaoh. During the third chapter, after the Pregtz shipping company you will have to enter the building with the theater. But before that, go to the alley to the right of the front door and take the poster off the wall.

When you have collected all the items, visit the attic at any time (when possible) and interact with the loop on the right. You will get the achievement Meta-Ending.
