Walkthrough of the quest The Beggar's Tale in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Beggar's Tale quest in Dragon's Dogma 2 is an exciting adventure where the Risen must uncover the mystery of the mysterious beggar who tells stories every day in the central square of Vernworth. During the investigation, it turns out that this man is not who he seems, and everything is much more complicated. The quest has three endings, which depend on who the Risen gives the evidence to.


To start the quest, you need to get to the capital of Vermund and visit the central city square of Wernworth during the day. As you walk past the fountain, you will hear stories from a local madman. You will be called by a resident named Benton, who will tell you about a drifter who became rich and went to Vernworth to share his skills. Benton will invite you to find out where the beggar got so much money.

As part of the quest, you will have to monitor a beggar throughout the day. Although not all points of interest are a must-see, some may be useful.


  • Watching Albert: After talking to Benton, watch Albert in the town square and rest on the bench. Then go to the Slums quarter and go north to Walter's Tavern.
  • Meet Albert's Wife: Walk up to the tavern and listen to Albert praise his wife. Wait until he leaves the tavern.
  • Finding Evidence: Rest on the bench until late at night, then go to Albert's house in the Commons. Wait until Albert leaves the house and leaves the door open. Go inside and search the corner of the house to find some beggar's clothes.
  • Escorting Albert to his manor: If you follow Albert, he will lead you to a luxurious manor in the nobles' quarter where he actually lives.
  • Ending choice: You now have information about Albert's fraud. You need to choose who to give the evidence to: the city guard, the merchant or the resident.
  • Results: Depending on the ending you choose, you will receive different rewards and outcomes that can affect the world in the game.

Thus, completing The Beggar's Tale quest involves uncovering Albert's lies and handing over evidence, leading to various outcomes and rewards.

Who should I give Albert's things to?

First watch out for the man and get the beggar's clothes. Then give the clothes to one of the NPCs, which will determine the final plot development and reward. The quest "The Beggar's Tale" has three endings: good, neutral and bad.

Selina

The bad ending reveals Albert's identity. Visit Walter's tavern early in the morning and talk to his poor slum wife. Give her the item you found. Although the girl will not believe you, she will decide to check your words on her own.


After a few days, return to Selina, spending the night in a hotel, house, or simply resting on a bench 3-4 times. Go to Albert's house in the Commons, where you will find guards. One of them will tell you that he found a married couple dead in the house. He will describe what happened: Selina visited Albert's wealthy family, then came to his "temporary" housing, killed her husband with a knife and committed suicide.

Albert

Wait until morning or rest on a bench to move on to the next step. Return to the house in the Commons where you found the clothes. You will see Albert who doesn't know what to do. You can return the things you found to him, and then he will continue his double life, pretending to be a beggar, while having a noble family.

Hilde


The best ending requires a visit to Baldwin's estate in the nobles' quarters. Talk to Hilda, the girl in the red dress, and give her the things, telling her everything you learned. Rest until the next morning on the nearby bench and return to Hilda. Find out that Albert gave up fraud and found a normal job.

    • Albert: Gold ×5000, Experience ×900.
  • Hilde: Onyx ×3 (equivalent to 7200 coins), Experience ×900.
