To start fishing in Genshin Impact, you first need to unlock your hut. After that, you need to complete the quest "Explosive Population Growth".

Basics of fishing in Genshin Impact

Speak to Katherine at the Mondstadt Adventurer's Guild to start the Population Explosion quest. She will offer to chat with a man named Nantak, who is located near Mondstadt. Nantak and tells you about the fishing system in Genshin Impact.

The idea is to find fishing spots on the world map. The first such place will be indicated by Nantak himself, and it is located north of Springvale. Then he will give you a fairly simple fishing rod and several types of bait (for example, fruit brew).

Stand in front of a fishing spot and press F, then left click to throw the lure into the water. Try to aim where the fish are, but don't hit them directly or you'll scare them away. If you do everything right, then after a few seconds the fish will catch on the hook.

There are many different fish and lures in Genshin Impact, so you will have to find your own approach for each one. For example, fruit mash is ideal for catching Medaka. Other species, especially the rarest ones, will simply ignore such a bait. You can right-click at any time to change the lure or bait on the rod.

After the fish catches on the hook, click LMB to start the mini-game. A bar will appear at the top of the screen. By holding the LMB, you will make an effort to fish out the fish, and if you let go, you will give slack to the fishing line. Also pay attention to the rectangular frame symbolizing the "golden mean". You need to stay inside this frame until the fishhook progress timer expires. If everything is done correctly, then the fish will be caught. Otherwise, it will fall off the hook.

Most fishing spots have 5-8 fish swimming. As soon as you catch them all, they will respawn at the fishing spot after 3 days. In addition, some fish appear only at night - from 18:00 to 06:00. There are 2 fishing spots in the lakes of Stormterror Lair. You can catch here: Orysia, Blue Orysia, Dawncatcher, Crystal Fish and Tea Shirokadai.

2 more fishing spots can be found near the Dawn Distillery and northeast of Qingce Village. Here you can catch the following fish: Sugar Orysia, Blue Orysia, Dawncatcher, Crystal Fish, Cockerel, Toxinback Fish, Scarlet Devil, Brown Shirokadai, Tea Shirokadai, Pufferfish, and Bitter Pufferfish.

Dragonspine: Fish

Only one fishing spot can be found in the entire region, located in the lake located in the Outskirts of the Buried Capital. Here you can catch: orysia, toxin-backed fish, snow wanderer, tea sirokadai.

Li Yue: fish

The last fishing spot in this region is to the east of Li Yue Harbor City. Here you can catch: sugar orysia, dawn catcher, crystal fish, cockerel and puffer fish.

Inazuma: fish
