Help Will Come Tomorrow - hunger, cold and revolution

From the French to the Russian Revolution, from the storming of the Bastille to the collapse of the tsarist empire. First by supporting the independent studio Polyslash in its developments We. The Revolution Polish publisher Klabater has invested in Archlight Creations, which has created another game about the revolution called Help Will Come Tomorrow.

The plot of the game tells the story of a group of survivors who suffered a train accident in Siberia in 1917. By genre, this is a survival simulator in which the player has to deal with bad weather, lack of food and resources, bandits who are involved in the train crash. The rhythm of the game is clearly normalized by actions that can be carried out during the day. But the day is replaced by the night, leading to interesting conversations around the campfire. In the weak light of the Russian sun, the survivors have to manage various tasks that increase the likelihood of rescue: cooking, collecting tools, and finding the best solution to deal with numerous events. And at night everyone tells their story, exchanges ideas and suggestions.

The camp consists of several fixed positions, such as a campfire, a tent (shelter), a fence, and a workbench. Each one has a different action associated with it. For example, food can be cooked on a fire, water is filtered there, and a palisade is a great place toboron several branches or placing traps. The refuge area is suitable for healing wounds and rest. To get a few resources, you will have to send some of the survivors outside the camp. They will bring stones, wood, mushrooms and other materials, while trying not to go too far from the camp so as not to get lost or stumble upon bandits. All actions have to be studied in detail, while during the day you need to try to use up all the action points of each character. There are only three of them per hero, while the supply of AP can decrease due to fatigue or a mental disorder associated with constant tension, thirst, hunger, wounds, or lack of sleep.

Aside from the questionable balance and artificial complexity of unpredictable events and exaggerated needs (survivors supposedly can't go more than two days without food), the survival mechanics are well implemented. All the elements come together to form a puzzle of increasing difficulty. An equation in which the personalities of the unfortunate heroes plays an important role. Over time, they develop unique passive traits that make them more or less suited to certain tasks. They may be patient or hateful towards certain companions.

Many of these skills appearing??yatsya during the night conversations around the fire. At this stage, the historical context is revealed and the essence of the name of the game is revealed (Help will come tomorrow). The October Revolution was used by the game's developers to talk about the growing tension between the survivors of the accident, each with their own revolutionary ideology.

Unfortunately, the game has low replay value. When playing again, the characters will have the same dialogues, they will receive identical skills. The effect is unpleasant, because sometimes there is a desire to “roll back” for several days in order to replay some moments and make a number of opposite decisions. And you have to listen to everything again ...

Help Will Come Tomorrow starts off incredible, especially given the range of settings and implications for gameplay. The more days you survive, the stronger the feeling that this is a game of missed opportunities. The October Revolution is just a setting in which people who have had an accident on the railway have to survive. The rest of the game is replete with repetitiveness and sometimes unjustified complexity.
