How to beat the Kraken in Sea of Thieves

The Kraken is the most dangerous and scary creature in Sea of Thieves. An exciting battle awaits you with a mighty squid that can attack you when you least expect it. Below we cover everything there is to know about the Kraken.

How to find the Kraken

In simple words, there is no specific location for the Kraken in the game. It can appear almost anywhere, sometimes even near the coast, although this is extremely rare. The giant squid is most often encountered somewhere in the depths of the ocean, and although there are no specific instructions on what to do to encounter it, you can use various clues to find out about its approach.

Look to the sky. Do you see a cloud in the shape of a skull or a pirate ship? These are forts. If you see such a cloud, it means that the fort is active. At such moments, you should not worry about the appearance of the Kraken. He simply cannot attack you now! But if there is no such cloud in the sky, be on your guard. The Kraken will definitely appear somewhere before the forts work again.

Apparently, Rare is using the Kraken to make it harder to get good loot out of fortified forts. It is at such moments, after you have cleared the fort, that the Kraken can attackyou. Thus, if you want to avoid the Kraken for sure, you should not swim through the waters until a cloud of a skull or a ship appears in the sky.

How to defeat the Kraken

The Kraken has several different moves. He can use quick strikes on the ship's hull, leaving several holes in it at a time. This is very similar to the bite of a Megalodon. It can also crush your ship, slowly destroying it until you hit the tentacles. He can even pull pirates off the ship and try to swallow them. At the moment it cannot swallow you, however you may be rendered helpless for a few seconds.

There are two chances for the Kraken to attack. And you decide which one to use. But first, just survive. The most important thing that should be at hand is wooden boards. Like fighting on a ship or with a Megalodon, be sure to bring planks, cannonballs, food, and other resources needed on the adventure.

I hope you won't be alone when the Kraken attacks you. It will be difficult to lead both defense and attack alone. You will need to repair the ship, avoid falling into the water, and even worse, if the monster manages to grab you and drag you off the deck. However, the developers have updated the combat mechanics, so if you are fighting?? alone, the Kraken will be somewhat weaker than if he was opposed by a whole team of gamers. Never let the water rise to the upper deck. As soon as the water reaches the top step near the boxes with cannonballs, consider that the ship has sunk.

I will assume that you have at least one other ally. Divide between themselves the tasks of defense and attack. Remember that after your ship sinks, all the loot will float on the surface of the water for a while, and other players can take it. Therefore, it is important that the ship does not fill with water. If this happens, do not hesitate to temporarily interrupt all your attacks in order to repair the ship.

As for the attack, you need to accurately shoot at the head of the monster using the cannons on the deck of the ship. This way you will deal much more damage than on thicker and lighter tentacle targets. But if you feel that you cannot hit these small targets, then it is better to shoot at any part of the body, since you should never wage a war of attrition.

If you find yourself in the inky waters, quickly return to your ship. This Kraken-contaminated water will damage and blind you. When the Kraken wraps around the ship, it will also release ink. Keep your distance from himand and shoot firearms. Use something like an Eye of Reach sniper weapon.

You can either hide from the Kraken by surviving its attack, or kill the monster (anchor, remove the sails) by getting its meat. The latter can be sold to the Call of the Hunt faction, whose representatives are literally at every outpost. The Kraken will also drop more typical loot.
