It's no secret that the release of the Battlefield 2042 shooter was a real disaster for DICE and Electronic Arts studios. The developers made several bad marketing decisions that multiplied the negative feedback caused to users by the poor technical condition of the game. But, as it turned out, not only this was the reason for the failed start - the release of Halo Infinite also had a negative impact on the competitor.
According to EA COO Laura Miele, the project of 343 Industires turned out to be surprisingly high-quality, and Battlefield 2042 looked extremely faded against its background. Even the many patches released by the developers to fix bugs did not really fix the situation. It got to the point that users created a special petition in which they demanded a refund for the purchased version of the undershooter.
Apparently, EA simply had no ideas left on what else to blame for the failure of its development.
The project is codenamed Half-Life X.
