The original trilogy star as Luke Skywalker is thrilled with the young actor who will play the series' iconic role.
Mark Hamill approves of casting young Skywalker on Obi-Wan Kenobi

In the upcoming TV show about Obi-Wan Kenobi, viewers will hear many iconic names for the franchise. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will return to their roles for the first time since the prequels. Another iconic role will be played by a newcomer: the young Grant Feli will appear in the film as a young Luke Skywalker. And he can already be proud of himself now: he was approved by the "real" Skywalker.

Feli made a brief appearance in the recently released Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer, which also saw McGregor's Kenobi exploring Tatooine. In a report on The Hollywood Reporter that followed the release of the trailer, we were told that the boy was Grant Fehli, who, according to iMDb, only starred in one episode of Kaleidoscope of Horror.

Shortly after the casting announcement for the original Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill took to Twitter and officially gave the new actor his blessing, saying that he "looks like the perfect Luke Skywalker".

For the first time in the history of the franchise, we will see a different image of Skywalker. Hamill played the role of Luke in both the sequel to the original trilogy and played a young Skywalker in episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, although he was "rejuvenated" with the help of CGI technology.

Since Obi-Wan Kenobi is set in a time period where Luke is only 10 years old, Grant Fehley's choice makes more sense than reusing CGI. The TV show premieres on Disney+ on May 24, the day Star Wars: A New Hope celebrates its 45th anniversary.
