The new PlayStation 5 model is lighter and does not require a screwdriver

Modified consoles of the current generation from Sony began to appear on the shelves of Australia
The new PlayStation 5 model is lighter and does not require a screwdriver

Unexpectedly for everyone, Sony has released an updated PS5 model that is available in Australia. The Australian site Press Start claims that the new version of the stand is fixed with a screw, which does not require a screwdriver. Now you can easily adjust, unscrew or tighten the screw using your fingers (a special handle has appeared on its upper part).

Press Start also reports that the updated models are about 300 grams lighter than the originals, but it's not yet clear exactly what Sony removed from the consoles to reduce weight. Instead of the serial number CFI-1000 printed on the surface of the original, the new models are marked with the number CFI-1102A.

Apparently, Australia is the first country to get these lighter versions. While Sony has eliminated the need for a screwdriver to secure the stand, you will still need one to access the secondary M.2 SSD slot.

It is noteworthy that Sony plans to release removable media along with the upcoming software update. Currently available in beta, the update improves the console's control panel user interface, 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers, and adds functionality that will make the difference between PS4 and PS5 video games more noticeable.
