According to the latest information, Rockstar has decided to stop work on the remasters of Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4 .
Tez2, a popular blogger and insider for Red Dead and GTA, announced this on his Twitter account. This time around, the leaker claims that Rockstar had been eyeing remasters of GTA 4 and the original Red Dead Redemption for "the last few years" but eventually "decided not to go ahead with those projects."
According to the source, there is no clear information about why the work stopped. But the informant suggests that the low ratings of the Grand Theft Auto Remastered trilogy could have influenced this. But given that the trilogy launched in late 2021 and the two alleged remasters were mothballed "many years ago," the two details aren't exactly compatible.
One way or another, it all comes down to the fact that we will never get either an improved Red Dead Redemption or a GTA 4 remaster. It is worth noting that you can still play the original Red Dead Redemption on the next generation Xbox Series X / S console, made possible by backward compatibility. The same can be said about GTA 4, which can also be played on Xbox Series X/S consoles thanks to the backwards compatibility mode.
