A newly created utility by a fan lets you see a rough layout of the Starfield map based on extrapolated data from the 6-second trailer. Sounds crazy, but let's drop the skepticism.
If you remember, last month Bethesda finally showed us the gameplay of Starfield. After that, Sebastian Verhausen spent several weeks programming and building the Starfield Navigator , a tool designed to render a detailed and interactive image of the game's star map, showing the position of the stars in relation to each other, their names based on the trailer. At the same time, the stars in the trailer were not named, and Verhausen, using the distance, position and color, determined the names of three real stars: Altair, Barnard and Sirius.
Here is how he commented on his work:
Frames were used to keep track of all visible stars and calculate their position in the game. The footage included seven named stars, three of which are actual star systems (the Sun, Alpha Centauri, and Porrima). The actual position of these stars allowed us to calibrate.
Verhausen stated that he was able to use data from the trailer to get a little bit of information to create the Starfield map. For example, he found out that of the "more than 100" stars included in the final assembly, at least 75 were shown in the trailer. In addition, three of the seven star systems labeled are from our real universe. Therefore, it can be assumed that there will be other real star systems in the game.
We are talking about the full release of version 1.0.
