Biomutant Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S

On September 6th, the open-world kung-fu action game Biomutant will receive an updated version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The update, free for all owners of the game on current devices, includes 4K resolution, HDR support, and a frame rate boost (up to 60 fps).

The PS5 will offer three graphics modes. Focusing on quality (30fps at 4K), ultimate quality (40fps “up to 4K”) and performance (60fps at 1440p). DualSense support will also be available.

For Xbox Series X/S consoles, graphics options will vary by console type. "Quality" will offer 30fps at 4K or 1440p for Series S. "Maximum Quality" is 40+ fps "up to 4K" for Series X or 1440p for Series S. Finally, "Performance" is 60fps at 1440p or 1080p for Series S.

Biomutant, developed by the Swedish studio Experiment 101, was released last May. The game has sold over 1 million copies, enough to pay for itself within a week of release.

THQ Nordic bought Experiment 101 in November 2017, acquiring the studio and rights to Biomutant for approximately $6.5 million.

Embracer, the parent company of THQ Nordic, subsequently said that Biomutant sales were "in line with management's expectations".
