The British government is interested in a deal to buy Activision Blizzard by Microsoft

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK-based regulator, will take a close look at Microsoft's bid to acquire Activision Blizzard in the coming months.

This investigation will allow the company to decide whether Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard can be considered anti-competitive.

The statement says:

As with all merger situations, this investigation will look at whether the deal could harm competition and lead to worse consumer outcomes, such as higher prices, lower quality, or limited choice.

The CMA has set a September 1 deadline for itself. Until that time, the regulator must come to a conclusion on the upcoming deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

However, the CMA is not alone in its investigations.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also currently looking into the details of Microsoft's proposed deal to buy Activision Blizzard. Recall that the deal is estimated at $ 68 billion. It happened after four politicians, including former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission, stating doubts about the legality of this purchase.

Microsoft hopes the deal will be completed by next year.
