In an interview with Ungeek, From Software's Yasuhiro Kitao revealed a lot of interesting details about Elden Ring . First of all, he confirmed the presence of fast travel - and not between control points, as in previous studio games, but from anywhere in the game world.
Anywhere in the world, the player will be able to open the map, provided that he is outside the dungeon, and select a previously discovered checkpoint for fast travel.
This decision was made due to the "expansive" nature of the new open world action game. We are waiting for the largest ever created game from From Software. Kitao states that the studio is trying to "make the game as dense as possible" so that the locations don't feel like empty outer space.
The developer also talked about the combat system. Game director Hidetaka Mayazaki previously described it as "fundamentally different from the Dark Souls series", however Yasuhiro Kitao says that "the combat dynamics are close to Dark Souls 3".
Kitao added that the "speed and aggression" first introduced in Bloodborne and refined in DS3 is being used by the developers as "a foundation, sort of a starting point for Elden Ring".
Judging by how willingly the developers share the details of Elden Ring, we will learn even more information before the release, scheduled for January 21, 2022.
