Early build of Overwatch 2 to debut on OWL in 2022

Blizzard has released an official statement confirming that an early build of Overwatch 2 will be coming to the next season of the Overwatch World League.

I've seen a lot of speculation regarding a 2022 start date for OWL. We can confirm that our plan is to begin next season in April 2022. We will share more details about 2022 roster construction timelines soon and more info generally on our 2022 season as we get closer to April.

In a Twitter post posted Friday afternoon, Overwatch League VP John Spector confirmed that the next season of the Overwatch League is slated to kick off in April 2022. Spector also revealed that more information on the season will be coming soon.

I've received a lot of suggestions for a 2022 OWL start date and can now confirm that the next season is scheduled to start in April. As we get closer to April, we will share more details on the dates and schedule for 2022.

DotEsports is the first to report that Overwatch 2 will be the main game of the next OWL season, and apparently Spector confirmed this information two days ago. Thus, this news can be used as a suggestion (but not confirmation) that Overwatch 2 will appear next April (or earlier?). Be that as it may, this time frame is perfectly in line with recent reports from the company, according to which the second part should be released in the second quarter of 2022.
