The creators of the TV show "House of the Dragon" told the meaning of the erotic scene from the fourth episode (18+)

Be warned, there will be spoilers for the fourth episode of Dragon House below.

In the fourth episode, when Damon and Rainier find themselves in the "House of Pleasure", a closeness between them slips. But at the last moment, Damon changed his mind and left.

Showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, along with director Claire Kilner, revealed why Damon didn't go through with it.

  • Miguel Sapochnik : “The idea is this: Damon uses Rainier to get to her father. Ultimately, his impotence in this scene is a reflection of the fact that deep down he knows what he is doing is wrong.
  • Claire Kilner : "He thinks it will shock [Rainier]. But she is not only shocked, everything that happens excites her. And when everything happens, he has nothing to answer. Basically, [Damon] can't deal with a situation where he's not in charge, not in control."
  • Ryan Condal : "It's often in Damon's life that the people closest to him get carried away and think, 'Well, maybe he's changed. Maybe it's a new person now." And he proves over and over again - no, it's still [old] Damon."

At the same time, Rainier was very pleased with what was happening. Ultimately, she seduces Christon Kohl, a member of the royal guard who guarded her quarters.

  • Miguel Sapochnik : “[Damon] awakens something in her, she begins to perceive sex as pleasure. She returns home, and Kriston Kohl is just the first available person who happened to be around.
  • Claire Kilner : "I think it says that young women want sex just as much as young guys."
  • Ryan Condal : "It's all very contrary to [Kriston's] vow. Wearing a white cloak, he swore an oath of chastity, but at the same time [Kriston] is breathing unevenly towards her."

According to the book "Fire and Blood", which formed the basis of the series, Kriston Kohl rejected Rainier not once. There is no description of their romance in the book.
