The Top Gun add-on will appear in Microsoft Flight Simulator only next year: the transfer is associated with the delayed release of the film of the same name. Paramount previously announced that it was postponing the release of its remaining films, which were due to arrive before the end of 2021. In particular, "Top Gun: Maverick" will now appear on Thanksgiving Day, May 27, 2022.
Microsoft and Asobo Studio have officially confirmed that the Top Gun expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which was supposed to arrive before the end of the year, will now be "released with the movie." In fact, there is little information about the content of the add-on. It is known about some models of aircraft and locations from the film "Top Gun: Maverick".
Microsoft's official statement says the following:
We look forward to a future opportunity to share more information.
Microsoft originally announced the Top Gun E3 2021 expansion to coincide with the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S platforms. The teaser trailer for the expansion showed several aircraft coming to the game, including an aircraft carrier that players will be able to land on as early as next year.
As for Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount's release of the movie was pushed back due to big concerns about the delta strain and the surge in Covid-19 cases. Freaks Forever and Mission: Impossible 7 were also delayed the following year. The last film will be released on September 30, 2022.
