Overwatch 2 was not so free after all

At least for the Americans.
Overwatch 2 was not so free after all

A few days ago, the official release of Overwatch 2 took place, which had one huge difference from the original - it was free. In any case, its network part, the plot company at the output will be paid. However, with the multiplayer mode, everything turned out to be not so simple, especially for American players.

The fact is that in order to play Overwatch 2, you need to link a SIM card to your Battle.net account. Thus, the developers decided to insure themselves against bots and cheaters, but not all SIM cards can be used. For example, prepaid cards, which are very common in the US.

For this reason, the owners of these budget "sim cards" could not play Overwatch 2 without buying a new card, and for America this is not a cheap pleasure. Thus, the game for them was by no means free, but paid entertainment worth about a hundred dollars.
