Rumor has it that some of The Witcher's writers aren't keen on Sapkowski's books and CDPR games.

Bo DeMaio, writer of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf anime, developed the first and second seasons of Netflix's The Witcher. According to him, some employees did not like Sapkowski's books, while others even mocked the original source and were not enthusiastic about CDPR games:

I worked on a series—specifically, The Witcher—where some of the writers were either not fans or hated books and games (and even actively satirized the source material). This is a recipe for disaster and low morals. The fan community, like a litmus test, tests self-esteem and thanks to it all sleepless nights are worth it. You have to respect the [original] work before you are allowed to expand on its legacy.

Screenwriter and TV producer Lauren Hissrich recruited different people to the team in 2020, even those who were not familiar with the work of Andrzej Sapkowski.

Everyone reads and loves books, but we need more than just hardcore fantasy nerds. I hired writers who worked on horror, action, romance and political series. The Witcher brings together a lot of things, and there is only one person who is good at everything at once - Sapkowski.

Recall that recently it became known about the start of work on the scripts for the fourth and fifth seasons of the TV show.
