The Callisto Protocol hints at the end of cross-gen projects

The Digital Foundry resource team, which specializes in the technical evaluation of games, notes that the recent release of The Callisto Protocol showed that developers will gradually refuse to release cross-gen projects.

The reason is that companies have to seriously cut down versions of games for previous generation consoles. For example, in the new space horror, the authors significantly lowered the quality of the textures in the PS4 and Xbox One version. The fact is that these platforms will not pull more modern quality, and for this the team has to do a lot of additional work.

Apparently, as noted by DF, companies will soon have to stop releasing games on previous generation consoles altogether, as this will simply not be rational.
