When creating the Black Reef, the developers of Deathloop were inspired by Edinburgh and the Faroe Islands

According to studio Arkane, Black Reef Island from Deathloop was inspired by the Scottish city of Edinburgh.

Yesterday, November 1, the famous developers published a tweet in which they shared interesting facts about the Black Reef. When creating this place, the developers drew inspiration from the dark stone buildings of Edinburgh, which, in particular, are scattered throughout the Royal Mile area in the city itself.

On top of that, Arkane has also been carefully studying the Faroe Islands. It is part of the Dany Kingdom, a country made up of 18 islands located between Iceland and Norway in the North Atlantic Ocean. As stated in the Arkane tweet, the Faroes contributed to the formation of an "isolated settlement" on the Black Reef.

Even after dozens of hours of exploring the Black Reef, many players are still interested in opening their eyes and uncovering new secrets of the island. And now, when you launch the game again, don't forget to spend a few minutes or even hours exploring the environment. Given the revealed details, this island can appear before you in a new light.
