Riot Games' popular massively multiplayer online game (MOBA) currently remains available only through a client developed by the company itself. Despite numerous requests from players to see League of Legends on the Steam catalog, Riot representatives emphasized that there are no plans for this.
The head of game development, Andrei "Meddler" van Roon, noted that Riot Games is not currently considering releasing LoL on Steam. He also explained that Riot Forge's projects, such as Song of Nunu and The Ruined King, already on Steam, are different from League of Legends. These projects are single-player games with a complete story and are aimed at a new audience not previously familiar with the world of League of Legends. That is why a different distribution model was chosen for them.
At the moment, the majority of League of Legends players use the client and launcher from the developer, and Riot Games has decided to maintain the current distribution scheme for the game.
