Todd Howard, creative director at Bethesda Game Studios, also stated that the company will continue to focus on making single player games. Right now, the company is working on the sequel to The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5, as well as the ambitious sci-fi action RPG Starfield .
During the Skyrim 10th Anniversary interview, Howard talked about Starfield, The Elder Scrolls, and more. One of the questions was related to whether the direction of the studio will change after the launch of the multiplayer Fallout 76.
When asked if the studio would continue making single-player games, Howard was unequivocal:
Undoubtedly. It's part of who we are, it's what we love about games.
The upcoming releases from Bethesda Game Studios, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will also be single-player games, in the same style that the developers have been following for many years.
According to Howard, since the Wastelanders update was added to Fallout 76 , the number of gamers has increased significantly. This is due to the fact that the update added a new storyline to the game, so many players appreciated its appearance quite well.
Todd also touched on whether the company's single-player games could have ways for gamers to interact with each other:
There are various ways to add social elements to the game, which, in my opinion, do not take away from the fact that it is single player. We have already tried some of them, but have not yet shown the public. There is something on paper that we would like to try in our games. In general, it is not excluded.
There is a working build of the game right now. There is already a fully playable version, which means, as Howard himself stated, development is proceeding according to plan and the game should be released on time - November 11, 2022 on PC and Xbox.
Development is also ongoing, but for now, all efforts are focused on Starfield. Todd would like to speed up the process, but doesn't want it to affect the quality of the game. In addition, in the sixth part of the famous series, deeper systems will appear that were not in the same Skyrim.
The developers have a lot of ideas, but so far it has not come to their implementation. Apparently, they are busy with Starfield and TES 6, and only after them will they take up the fifth part of the post-apocalyptic franchise.
