Capcom rolls out anti-piracy protections on older games

Capcom is installing Enigma Protector anti-piracy protection into its older games, including the horror game Resident Evil: Revelations, released more than 10 years ago. Steam users have expressed their dissatisfaction, noting significant slowdowns and frame rate drops in the game after DRM was added.

The loss of the ability to use modifications is also noted. Some gamers speculate that Capcom may be testing a new DRM system and anti-chit, for which the company has patents.

Disgruntled gamers have started to downgrade Resident Evil: Revelations on Steam, and currently only 41% of recent reviews rate the game positively.
