Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's creative director, Tetsuya Nomura, shared details of the new game in an interview with website Automaton, describing the differences between the project and the original.
The developers have greatly expanded the game world, adding new locations and buildings to make the cities visited more intense and realistic. They made significant changes to the appearance of settlements, while maintaining the atmosphere of the locations.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth introduced new secondary characters that were not present in the original. The developers paid special attention to creating these characters to give the game's story more depth. Nomura notes that the characters will not look like ordinary NPCs, each of them received serious elaboration.
The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth team has also added new elements to the game's story to make it interesting and unpredictable. Nomura promises an "immersive experience," though he says the developers haven't deviated much from the original's story. He is also confident that the game's final scene will leave gamers enthralled and have a strong impact.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second installment of the remake of the original game and continues to reimagine the events of 2020. In the story, Cloud and his friends are on a quest to find Sephiroth.
The game is scheduled for release on February 29, 2024 exclusively for PlayStation 5. Currently, those interested can try out a demo version of the project.
